These record album covers and CD covers are pop art paintings from an ongoing series of mine. I did the first set of paintings of 101 record album covers and CD covers for a gallery show and I had so much fun doing them that I'm continuing the series which now numbers well over 200.       With the advent of digital music and the whole idea of a physical cd/album and cover rapidly disappearing I feel that an important visual link between the artists and the audience has been lost. Howie Green's "Rufus the Boston Moosic Cow", an official entry Cow Parade Boston, sold at auction to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Extending Howie's ongoing series of album cover paintings in an unusual new direction Rufus contains 39 album covers by Boston-based bands. Pop Artist Howie Green came to national attention with the publication of his book "Jazz Fish Zen: Adventures in Mamboland", a category best-seller with a global cult following. Howie's art has been featured in over 30 solo and group shows and he has painted more than a dozen murals. Howie has won over 40 awards for his work for International clients including IBM, Hewlett Packard, Coca-Cola, CBS Television, LL Bean, PBS and others. Howie's portrait 'Madonna Smoking' is featured in the British art Book "Madonna in Art" by Mem Mehmet. Howie won an Absoult Vodka 25th Anniversary Art Competition. Howie also painted 3 of the 2006 Boston Cow Parade cows. In 2007 and 2008 Howie completed 2 large mural & art installations in Jacksonville & Delray Beach, FLorida. He also did the cover painting or the Biggie Smalls tribute album "Unbelievable".
